Ok... some of you have given me a lot of helpful advice about my first street bike. It is a 1982 Yamaha xj550 and has been super fun since I got it. In the past three weeks I have already put almost 1500 miles on it... LOL.
Today I went to start it and when I pushed the start button nothing happened. The key turns on, the lights and blinkers work and the battery is fully charged. I first tried to jump it by the battery, nothing. Tried to jump it at the silinoid... nothing. I checked three relays (dont know what they do except for the accessories one... and they work as far as i know. There are two above the motor under the gas tank. One is above the valve cover and one is under the seat. I dont know if they have anything to do with the starter.
I jumped it from the by going straight froom the battery to the starter and it started right up. But when i go from the silinoid to the starter nothing happens. But when I push the start button the silinoid does make a clicking sound. But someone said that doesnt mean the silinoid isn't shot.
Any ideas or advice? Please help so i dont spend money I dont need to spend.
