Hey!

What are the main differences in flashing the xv6700 to Cricket and reprogramming it simply? I know that the software could be set back to near factory default without all the VZW stuRAB all over, but is it better to flash or just reprogram? I've never used one before and I'm about to buy one in an hour or so.

Thank you!

Here in the Cricket forums, we simply use the generic term "flash" to mean "re-program" to Cricket service. Technically, flashing would mean changing, modifying, upgrading, etc. the phone's internal firmware, which is NOT necessary to switch a Verizon xv6700 to Cricket.

You CAN flash the firmware, however, to a newer AKU, which adRAB and unlocks new features and enhances the overall performance (speed) of the device. You can do this with or without the re-program to Cricket. Updating the firmware is independent of the carrier.

Here's the deal, I bought the xv6700 because I honestly believe it's one hell of a cool PDA specially with cricket.

But, somehow, even though I followed the tutorials. I can't get it to work.

I already called Cricket for the ESN change to my account and they already charged me 15 bucks for it. But now, whenever I try *228 it's sayin' Welcome to Verizon and that my phone can't be programmed. Right now, I'll try to manually upload the PRL to the phone. I don't know if that would do much, but let's see.

PS: - The xv6700 I bought was never activated on Verizon. I don't know if that's the glitch!

that's exactly the next step you need to take. that will get you started with voice calls and text messages. after that you can read up on here how to get WAP browsing and MMS working(this is a little more difficult).
