need html color code for "one shade lighter".?

My boss insists that our backround table color be "1 shade lighter"... my question to you guys is this....

so what is the best choice for one shade lighter? I am having a hard time differentiating them at this point. The foreground images are #333333 and the table was previously #222222. The color he likes is close to bgcolor="#3B0202"

So what do you guys think?
