“The only thing we fear is fear itself.” This statement as spoken by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, asserts that fear only exists when you create it. To Kill a Mockingbird and Lord of the Flies demonstrate the power of fear. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee presents the world seen in the eyes of a young girl, Scout. The narrator of Lord of the Flies is equally as young. Each text allegorically represents a microcosm of issues that people face within the real world. Lord of the Flies by William Golding is a book about a plane crash on an unknown island, and kids are stranded to fend for themselves in the horrors of the island. However, To Kill a Mockingbird the kids are left to resist the effects on society. Fear is a theme in each text that exploit chaos, and disorder in society; resulting in fear of truth. Both books demonstrate a fear of the unknown, society, and fear of morality.
I know it looks weird on yahoo answers, but please try your best.
