Need help with stereo?

i recently bought a 95 eclipse and when i was getting ready to install my new stereo i realized that the wiring inside is not the original wiring and when i would play music it sounds bad and it seems as if it were only playing background music how can i fix this or were could i fix this and how would it cost? please help
