I just bought a 08 Yamaha FZ6 from a private person that the DMV in CA says they won't register because it doesn't meet the states emition standards. They said that usually there wouldn't be a problem since I'm military as there is a loophole but I can't get it since I bought the bike in CA and it has less the 7000 miles or something like that. So the only thing I can think of doing is registering it in my home state which (New Mexico) were the laws are loser with that sort of stuff. So I called them but they said I could send in the paperwork and stuff but I need a NM motorcycle license but I only have a CA one thats for Motorcycles. The other option is driving it down there but I have no experience so I don't think a 800 mile drive on I-40 is a good way to learn. Does anyone have any options they can think of? Cause I really don't want to get rid of the bike.
