ok so i ordered a water pump off ebay. there are 2 kinds. 1 with 1 pipe and 1 with 2 pipes. i didn't know which one to get so i went with 2 pipes thinking that it would be the one to go with. well no one knew which one it was until they took it apart. so turns out it was the the water pump with only 1 pipe that i needed by my mechanic installed the water pump that had 2 pipes anyway. he put a gasket and a rubber stopper on the second pipe. well eventually the pressure broke the rubber piece. is there anyway we could have used a gasket with a metal piece instead of the rubber? i was told that the mechanic should have insisted on me getting the right water pump and installing the right one as putting on any thing else will never work. they told me that the rubber would never ever work for any long period of time. is this correct? what would you have done. the guy who put on my water pump also helped me put on a new head gasket. the car worked great for a week and then i suppose the rubber piece blew a hole in it and then my car overheated again! what should i have done? i think its my mechanic's fault for my current situation. if he would have told me to order the right part i would have done that. this is all a very expensive learning experience.
