I need to write an essay about chapter 23 in The Secret Garden so if you have time please please pleaseee help me with it because I don't know what to write and stuff. SO please read it all and please help me out! THANKS! 
INSTRUCTIONS: WRITE A 5 PARAGRAPH ESSAY ABOUT WHAT MARY MIGHT BE LEARNING ABOUT HERSELF THROUGH THIS REALIZATION IN CHAPTER 23. WHAT DOES SHE SEE IN COLIN THAT REMINDS HER OF HERSELF? HOW DOES SHE FEEL ABOUT THESE THINGS? DO THEY MAKE HER HAPPY? ARE THEY ALL BAD? DOES IT MAKE HER FEEL CLOSER TO COLIN?
This is my essay that i have so far~:
Have you ever seen someone that reminds you of who you used to be, who you want to be, or who you are? In chapter 23 of The Secret Garden, you read that Mary finds herself through Colin’s eyes. She slowly gets the feeling that maybe she has more in common with Colin than she has realized. The simple act of Colin being rude to Dr. Craven reminded her of the selfish act of beating up her Ayah.
Many feelings had touched Mary at the act that Colin did, but a major feeling that she had was disturbance which didn’t really make her very happy either, but how she was disturbed is the bigger question. In chapter 23, after Colin ends his little discussion with Dr. Craven, Mary looked at him with the words “queer” coming from her mouth. With Mary’s dazzling eyes, her perspective of him had suddenly changed into something more. She realizes that Colin was more like her in the past.
Mary realizing it is a good thing. Why? It is a good thing because when you realize how you are or how you were, you usually would do your best to improve yourself. Is being queer and rude bad? For the most part, yes because f you are queer and rude no one would like you, and you would be lonely your whole life, just like how Mary was at the beginning of the book and how Colin was before he met Mary.
Lastly, did it make her feel closer to Colin? Let’s first ask ourselves, why are we usually friends with someone? Is it because they are totally different from you and are perfect when you are not or vise-versa, or is it because you might have something in common with them? Mary might have felt closer with Colin because she noticed that she was like him before and maybe she can change him for the better, just like she changed herself.
