I started using acnefree on sunday, following their three steps and im just breaking out even more. Im also getting dry skin and burning sensation around my mouth area. Should i use a moisturzier? I got one called Aquatain at home, and if so, how long should i wait after i apply the 3rd step (the repairing lotion) before applying the moisturizer?

Also, why am i starting to break out even more (i get like red bumps around my temple/forehead area)? Should i discontinue using this product, or should i suck it up and see what will happen in the upcomming weeks?
Also, will the moisturizer help with the dry skin and burning sensation i get?

I just put on the moisturizer, and now i really feel a burning sensation, what is going on? I had to wash it off before my face caught on fire :blob_fire

I think Acnefree has alcohol in it -- which is probably why you're experiencing dryness and burning. I am not familiar with the moisturizer you've used, however, I would suggest taking a day off from the Acnefree and seeing how your skin feels after that... if it gets better, it might be something to use every other day. I used the spot treatment for a bit, and I didn't really like it at all -- it dried my skin out so much, and made it red and flaky.

It has 2.5% of benzoyl peroxide.
What kind of moisturizer do you recommend for a male? I think i will cut it down to once per day, and slowly build up on it.

This is very frusturating, i dont have bad acne/pimples, but i do get them pretty often around the forehead temple area and they look like little red mountains, maybe 5-6 at a time, but they are sure ugly :(

If you don't have very oily skin, A good moisturizer during the day is Olay Complete. I have corabination skin, and I love this one (I'm a girl, but I have a guy friend who loves the stuff, too). It is oil free, has vitamin E and sunscreen. It's not greasy at all, and it leaves your skin very soft. Look up the reviews on drugstore.com -- I don't think anyone breaks out from it. At night I use Neutrogena Healthy Skin moisturizer (the one without spf, because it's at night). It has alpha hydroxy acid in it, though, so if you are using spot treatment for acne (and experiencing burning), it may not be a good choice. -- but those are the two moisturizers I really like (and neither is very girly at all). I have also heard good things about Eucerin moisturizers -- they are supposedly quite gentle, and calm the redness (I have never used them, though).

Another product recommendation: Acnomel for Adult Acne has been quite good for me with painful zits that refuse to go away. I only use it at night (it's tinted, so it looks a little ugly, and it has sulfur in it so it smells), and often found it very effective overnight. I don't know how old you are, but I'm 21, and I have been using it for a few years. I don't really consider myself an adult, but I'll use whatever works =)

Also, you may want to try putting a couple of uncoated aspirin and a few drops of water together as a spot treatment... that works great for me, either leave it on for 30min, or all night. I have heard of it being used as a mask as well.

I think cutting the Acnefree to once a day will probably help you. If it doesn't seem to be working, though - those are a couple of things to consider. The aspirin one is easy, and doesn't cost a lot of money! =)

meh...sorry this was so long!

Thank you for the help, your an

I bought the Olay Complete moisturizer, and i started using it just now. I feel some burning, but it goes away after a few minutes of applying.
I also found out that step 2 in acnefree, the toner, has alcohol in it. I am going to stop using it, and only applying bp once a day for the next week so my skin gets used to it before going to twice per day. Hopefully that will help.

One more question, i work in a warehouse part-time, and as winter is comming, it gets mighty cold there, and am wondering if i wear a toque, will that clog my pours or in any way break me out even worst.

hi
This is my experience with Acne free...
they have their new redness relief acnefree product which is Extremely amazing...
the face wash has sulfur in it and the toner has licorice extract which is really calming..
the cream contains 2.5% benzoyl peroxide...i shifted from normal acnefree to this one and the sulfur itself seems to be working and cleaning my blemishes which i thot wud take another 6 months to clear...it is a bit costly but worth it....
since then no redness and just some zits only during special days of month which disappears in the next following days...
please give it a try.
also i just apply olay moisturiser with spf30 and it works well to cut the drying of benzoyl peroxide...infact apply it on BP after 40 mins avoiding eyes area and lips
