Need help with a Honda Shadow?

My 1984 Honda shadow will start up once one day but after i ride it for 5 min or 5 hours it wont start back up without a jump start. now i let it sit for a day or two it will start right up. any thought why it wont start when the engine is warm?

Possibly an issue with the starter... Does it still spin over or does it just click?
