Need help with a 91 Honda Civic Hatchback?

I am looking at trading for a 91Civic hatchback? I know nothing about civics. The block says D15B1 is this a good motor or not? also if I need to swap the motor what is the best one to swap with? also the guy just changed the tranny and put a SI tranny in it...is this good or bad? just dont want to get into a mess. Thanks
