I have a 1997 Ford Escort 2.0 four cylinder engine. Recently the check engine light came on. I took the car to Ford and ran the test on it. It came back as a purge sensor in the evac system. I replaced two of the purge sensors. The light came back on. I've also replaced brittle vacuum lines, the fuel and air filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires and changed the oil, but the light will not turn off. I've ran the car again at Ford and it's coming back as the evac system but not specifying where. Ford says they are unsure of whats wrong exactly. I was wondering if there is any thing else I should check? Or if any of you had any ideas of what else might be wrong?
Thank you.

I've also replaced the gas cap, it didn't help. Thank you so much though.
As far as my knowledge it has never had gas put into it while running. It's always been shut off and never ran with out a gas cap.
