I just had a postural x-ray to confirm whether a potential leg length discrepancy is contributing to my scoliosis problem. The x-rays indicated that "the femoral head height is 3mm higher on the right, the iliac crest height is 6mm higher on the right, the sacrum tilts inferiorly to the left by 9 mm." My doctor says this confirms a shorter right leg. This confuses me; if the femoral head and iliac crest are higher on the right, shouldn't that indicate the right leg is longer, not shorter than the left? (Or do X-rays perhaps indicate Left or Right from the point of view of the observor, not the patient?) Please help.

Hi.. I really have no basis for my theory.. but using common sense.. if it's higher that would mean "up" not down, therefore the leg would then be shorter. Make sense?

That's a complete and total guess.

I would simply ask the doctor what is meant by that. That is the best way to fully understand what was said.

Let us know.
