Hello, I am 42 years old, and was just diagnosed as being allergic to Nickel. I've been having intense itching, (literally tore blood from my arms). I'm not sure exactly what to avoid, how to avoid it. I work in manufacturing and am currently off work because I break out so bad because of all the steel. If there is anyone who is allergic to nickel or knows someone with this allergy, I would love to talk to you and see if I can figure out how to deal with this.

I am was just told I have a nickel allergy and will seek a follow up testing for palladium. It is in your buttons, zippers, pots and pans, jewelry, metal cups (my personal loss), some fooRAB, medical tools, etc. I was told by my allergist that there is a chemical you can get to test the metal items you come into contact with that will tell you if it contains nickel. Sorry I forgot the name. I will try to look it up on line. Good luck.

I am so glad to hear from you on this. I was hoping to get back to work today but not yet. I would like to get the name of that product to test for nickel, I'll also try to find it out. You've helped me so much with this. Another question. a couple times per month my lips will act crazy like nurabness, extreme itching and feels really weird and extremely dry. Could this be from something I've eaten? (the dermatologist mentioned cinnamon to me ??) Also, could I be getting these itching attacks by the kettles I use when I cook? don't really know how to get away from that. The doctor said that these scarred areas on my arm will eventually go away but there terrible. they may start to fade but then like when I get cold, or upset they get all dark and purple again. really bothers me when people see it, I feel like a leper. blue
p.s. sorry for getting so long winded

Thank you for your reply. I am still off work but hope to get back (factory) very soon, I have a dermatology appointment Friday. I do have a barrier cream that the nurse at work gave me, it's called Kerodex 51, have you heard of it? Do you have a barrier cream you could recommend? I appreciate your help. blue

Here is a website that tells more about nickle allergy and the test kit to see if items have nickel in it. Hope it helps.
