Need help on where to start on arts, painting?

I have a huge interest towards ancient paintings.

Can someone please help me on explaining things, providing good links on where to start? I wanted to know the history, famous paintings of all time, famous ancient/modern painter, links to great painting etc.

I have absolutely no clue about this topic, so please tell me anything regarding painting.
