There isn't any C rings holding the caps in place so not sure what IS holding them. There is what appears to be a tiny plastic rod on the top of the yoke and driveshaft right above the caps but can't imagine those hold anything in place. PLEASE HELP!
you need a vice and you have to press the cups out
i've done it with a vice and a couple sockets
it's hard for me to explain but here it goes
get two sockets one the same diameter as the cup the other just big enough to fit in to it.
and use the vice to sandwich all together and push the cap out of one side
flip it around and push out the other one that you just pushed in to the center
be careful when reinstalling not to damage the needle bearings i personalty don't recommend using a hammer (do to the fact that your dealing with a high stress part) but after you reinstall the u joint and you move it around and it fells stiff give the yoke a light tap between the u-joint cap and the drive shaft that should help it don't go nuts beating on it thou
good luck

That plastic is an epoxy used at the factory to secure the u-joint.
When you get them apart you will see the groove machined into the yoke that allows the epoxy to flow all the way around the cap and hold it in place.
If you have a torch of some kind the easiest method is to heat the yoke until the epoxy liquidizes and oozes from the yoke then press or beat the cap out in the usual fashion. The new u-joint will come with c-clips to secure it the old fashioned way.
If you don't have any kind of torch just beat the living crap out of it. It takes longer but the epoxy will let loose with enough persistent force.
best of Luck!
