Need help from a T-Mobile Customer

Hi All,
I have a BB Pearl that is locked to T-Mobile, but I live in Toronto, Canada, so obviously can't use TMO.
I know that TMO provides unlocking codes free of charge if you are a customer in good standing, so I was hoping that a current TMO customer could call and give their account # along with my IMEI # and email address to get an unlocking code. I've spoken to TMO to verify this is do-able and would not cost you anything more than the 5 minutes or so on the phone and I would be willing to PayPal someone $10 for a beverage of their choice for their help.
Anybody willing to help me out on this?

I am not sure TMO will unlock a phone that is not active on an account. I could be wrong though. If you havent made any progress with this let us know please.
 
Hi there,
no progress yet. I spoke to T-Mobile customer service at the beginning of the week and the rep told me that as long as it is a T-Mobile phone (which it is) they could and would unlock it. He told me that they only provide the service for existing customers though and said that if I had a friend who was a t-mobile customer they could call in and get it done. He said that all that is required is the account number or pin, the phones IMEI number and an email address to send the unlock instructions and code to. They also may ask why you want the code, and telling them you are thinking of travelling overseas tends to be sufficient. (My guess is they just want to make sure you are not cancelling your service and switching to another carrier)
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
