Need help determining whats wrong with my 98 Ford Explorer?

I have a 1998 Ford Explorer V8, Auto Trans. with 66,500 miles on it. Recently when I put it into reverse it will jerk back and forth and sputter and than shut off and every time I would go to put it into reverse it would do the same and shut off. I have replaced the Fuel filter and have also used Injector cleaner. What can it be now? Thank you.
 
take it to a good mechanic.... we all can give you answers but unless we actually see what it is doing, it would be hard to determine what is wrong. Does it do the same when you put it in drive.
Since you assume that it has something to do with the fuel....(fuel pump.... something in your gas tank) this is why I suggest a mechanic. Before you spend a lot of money on parts it doesn't need.
