I am a Canon S90 owner and love the camera. The only reservation I have about it is the fact that it has a static focus during video shooting. This means that it focuses once before recording and maintains that same focal point throughout shooting, so you can't get close to subjects if you initially started recording at a distance. Since I broke my S90, I am looking into the S95, but I hear it has the same issue.
So here's what I am looking for in a camera:
- Point-and-shoot (no DSLR)
- $400 max retail
- reasonable megapixel/image sensor ratio (for example, not 14 MP like the SX210 with such a small image sensor)
- Auto focus during recording (I don't care if it can't zoom in/out while recording)
What I love about the S90/S95 is that it's only 10 MP, but it has a large image sensor to pack each pixel with as much detail as possible (not that you can "pack a pixel with detail", but you get the drift). The Canon SX210 has an even smaller image sensor and 4 more megapixels, so it results in a lot more noise.
So does anyone have any recommendations?
