Need expert advice on Metro compatible handsets

Been out of the cellular phone loop for too long and need some expert help. Just got home form the Metro store and my head is spinning

1)Looking into a Metro PCS prepaid unlimited account for my wife. Before I bought Metro's in store phone (that does not do everything I want it to) a guy in the lobby told me to check out buying a primary carrier phone because they were more feature rich. He advised me to get a Sprint or Verizon capable phone and have it (a) flashed over to Metro by Metro and (b) then have it "unlocked" and/or have the internal email address changed 3rd party such that the metro internet service will work. The counter rep told me the Sprint / Verizon phone will make calls on their network but no internet service will be supported. Who is right or is it phone specific?

2)Assuming that Verizon /Sprint phones can be used on Metro to call and surf inet I then need some Handset recommendations. What phones have wifi, full html "is this what they mean by smart phone?", camera, video, removable storage, touch screen preferred for bigger viewable screen, and gps (hence the bigger screen), additionally I would like the gps to operate like a hand held unit such that when we go riding in the woods we can set a location point and have it trace our travel path. This way we can use it when riding motorcycles cross country and then find our way back to the truck. I also have a Net-flicks subscription that I would like to view from the phone. I remember having to download some kind of viewer to my pc to view net-flicks. Is there a phone out there that will do the above and also support net-flicks too?

Does such a phone exist that does all this and will work on Metro? If not all which ones will do most?

Thanks for considering my questions. I tried the search but nothing addressed all this.

Greg :)
