...6 years now....? I met my fiance 6 years ago and we have been together ever since. We are soooo close and not only in love, best friends as well 
I am white.. I come from the typical white family. I feel like I don't know proper Dominican etiquette. And because of that, I feel like I cant fit it.. Even though I am told I do. His parents don't speak clear English. His dad can make it by, but has a very strong accent.. But his mom is not fluent. I don't talk to her much because I don't want to make her feel uncomfortable. Although everyone else in the family says she wants me to call her or talk to her. My fiance is away serving right now for the next 20 months, and I THINK i should be keeping in touch with his family (parents mostly). I am really close with his sister and talk a few times a week, sometimes daily.
Since we're planning on getting married very soon, I feel it is only right that I become close with his mom and the rest of the family. I am so quiet though!!!! I know Spanish families are very close, outspoken, and stuff... so I want to try my hardest.
What are unspoken rules, etiquette, etc?
I lived with them for a few months last year right when my fiance left.. And it went well. But then when I moved out and in with my family, it seemed like if his father was offended. :-/ I only moved out because I felt like I was imposing and my family had a room free. I am now living in my own home and awaiting mi amor to come home to our new house!!
Also.. How can I make them understand my culture too? How I am more quiet, private, etc.?.?
