Need advice on building a fish tank in the wall.?

I want to put one in the wall so that it can be seen from both sides, Kitchen and living room. I believe I will have around 5 inches thick ( wall ) and I may go around 2 to 3 feet long and 2 feet high. Also will salt fish be ok in this small amount of water ( Bio environment ) or should I use Fresh water fish. I will install a good under water filter system or another more expensive type in the wall with door for access. I will frame the it to look like a picture. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks advance
