Need advice/ideas for Pre-K Gymnastics class?

I applied at a children's gymnastic studio--- it's not really a typical one-- there mission there is to really develop motor skills-- social skills-- and for the kids to gain self esteem... which is why I am so interested in it.

Well I had my interview and now they want me to come back in this weekend to assist in two classes to see how I interact.

The first class is a parent-child class. So first off-- to all parents out there-- the children in this class will obviously be very young.. so should my main focus be on the parents?

The second class is a Pre-K class-- (19 months to 3 years)-- and this gym is really big on themes (such as a pirate-- cave-- beach themes.. and so on)... so what are some other good ideas for that age group? Also, what is popular with that age group right now so I can incorporate it into their class?

Any other advice you can give would be great!! Thanks!
*CORRECTION* I worded something wrong... the parent child class is 19 months to 3 years and the Pre-K class is 3-4 years

for both classes- routine and music. Star the class off with a welcome song- saying each kids name as part of the song ( not the parents names!) this will help you learn their names too. Then maybe set up a little circuit to introduce the parents to any equipment you might be using, Let them take their kids through it... rolling on mats, climbing up stuff- whatever you do in kiddie gymnastics :) The kids will need lots of help obviously, from their parents, but really try to direct the class to the kids. Lots of songs/games/movement activities ie- stretching - reach for the sky/touch your toes etc. the kids can watch their parents and try to copy them etc.

Kids love props too so try those rhythm ribbon things or even pom poms or shakers while they do the movements etc.

I've done several classes with my boys and it doesn't seem to matter what the class is - gymnastics, music dance or art, or even french class. They ALL incorporate the same structure or flow to each class ( predictable class schedule so the kids start to anticipate what part comes next) and include a welcome and goodbye song and other songs and movement throughout.

The class we went to had an "open gym" feel to it, we were free to help the kids on the equipment - plus there were ride on toys. na the instructor walked around and interacted with the kids. I really liked it. Structure by way of intro and goodbye song , plus circle time, but lots of free play time too.

wow- this is rambly- sorry! LOL

good luck :)

ps- themes - boys seem to LOVE trains :)
