You know how there's a million free forum sites where you create a forum, and then your users register with a user name and an email address, and then the system sends the email address a confirmation URL the users must click in order to be confirmed, after which users have to log in before they can post to the forums?
Well, I want something like that but for chat, not forums. None of the chat systems I've looked at require users to register. I've seen chatmaker.net, chatzy.com, and xat.com.
So does anyone know of a chat system that --
1.- Allows only registered users.
2.- Requires log in (doesn't just go by cookie)
3.- Doesn't let people change their names to avoid imping.
4.- Just basic text chat with maybe a few smilies. No file transfer or video streaming needed.
5.- Browser base. Doesn't require installing software except maybe Java or .NET run time.
5.- Is free or maybe no more than $10 a month.
