Need a quick answer, 7105 unlock

Ok so I bought a used 7100 and it sucks cause it's near its deathbed. So I went to ebay and found an auction for a 7105, new never opened unlocked. Won the auction for a great deal.

Now I get an email from the seller saying he screwed up and the phone isn't unlocked. I've got a valid SIM that I have moved from phone to phone and found this on the tmo site

"T-Mobile customers can move their SIM card from any T-Mobile branded phone to any other T-Mobile branded phone without the need to contact Customer Service to activate the new phone. Your rate plan and phone number will follow your SIM to the new phone. "

Anyone have any experience in this matter? I really want the phone but am pissed about the email from the seller.

I have Cingular but I do this all the time. (Move sim chips phone to phone without a problem)If you have BIS, shouldn't be an issue. Not sure what the situation will be with the BB you're buying though. My 2 cents.

so you are a tmo customer and the phone you just bought (7105t) is a tmo phone? if so, then yes, you should have NO problems. you will need to change handheld information on your BIS account (assuming you already know how to do this). if you need help, just let me know.

Yes, you can do that with Tmo. As long as it is a Tmobile phone, you will be fine. I had my SIM card in a Sidekick, then a Sidekick 2. I switched to a 7100t, same SIM card. I had to change my plan from a Sidekick plan to a BB plan, otherwise I was good to go. When I upgraded to the 8700g, all I did was change the SIM from one to the other. Then my hubby put his SIM in my old 7100t and has been using it ever sence.

You should have no problems as long as the BB is Tmobile and the SIM is Tmo.

Naughty on the seller. They should pay to unlock now after advertising it as unlocked, or discount you the price of an unlock.

Hey guys, thanks for all of the really QUICK answers! Usually I ask for quick (elsewhere) and it takes a day or more.

I'm torn between there is something wrong with the phone or the seller is mad cause it went for so cheap. Here is the item 300037525636.

What's a fair discount considering the price?

~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~It usually costs about $20 to unlock a phone. You say the phone is locked, but if its a TMO phone that really doesn't matter. If it isn't a TMO phone then you will have it unlocked to be able to use it and I would definitely ask for the full amount to get it unlocked of that is the casw. As far as what you need to get the phone working on your network, after you switch you SIM card into the new BB you will need to Register it on the network, send Service Books(as long as you already have a B plan through TMO) and set-up your e-mail accounts. To Register, go to Options-

jjspigland, Welcome to rabroad.

I would wait for it to come, pop my SIM in and see if I can make a phone call. If so, then go to your BIS Setup and change the IMEI and PIN to the new one, send your service Books and the do a Register Now in the Host Routing Table. Should be good to go.

Hi jjspig, welcome to rabroad. As most already have said, you can move the sim card to the new phone, as long as you update your information with TMO you will be fine.
