I have one of these Kitchen Aid Pro grinders and like it a lot. It grinds
uniformly as you want. It's expensive. I got it at Costco for under $100.

On that same Amazon page there is also reference to a Capresso burr grinder.
I know this is a respected burr grinder. I don't know anything more than
that. The other grinder in the "burr" category is the Baratza Coffee
Grinder you're asking about.

All of these are a step above the conical grinder in a Cuisinart product.
I've had two of them self wear the grinding wheel out. They are available at
a very good price at Costco. Depending on your needs and price limitation
that is a decent choice. It doesn't don't give you the uniform grind you
ideally want. It is much better than the "whirr" grinders.

Good Luck

Ask in the alt.coffee newsgroup for authoritative recommendations in
any given price range. You probably won't find any useful information
concerning making coffee in this newsgroup.

Also, www.wholelattelove.com has a good section on grinders, with
reviews of each one.
