Need a new battery for my 99 VS800

Its time for a new battery, right now my local options are Wal-Mat Ever Start batter $55, Advanced auto $84, my local bike shop $84 or $122 for the no maintenance sealed battery or my Napa store has one for $60, or the no maintenance sealed battery for $90 which is the one i'm leaning towards.

Does anyone have any suggestions for an online purchase? Thanks in advance.

I am unimpressed with the Scorpion battery, as despite the cost it did not last any longer than a $35 cheapo from J&P.

I purchased a G-bat, which is an Odyssey PC535 modifed by G-man Industries tofit the Intruder 800, while still carrying a full factory warranty. A bit steep at $135, but Intruder owners tell me they last 5-7 years, a big plus with the PITA location of the Intruder's battery. Huge cranking power, and thanks to a bad stator I drained my down to absolutely zero charge 4 times, yet it came back and still holds a 100% charge.

I have also had very good service from Westco 12V16-B, another gas-matt dry cell battery. About $90-100, but again, owrht every penny for its extra cranking power and long life. The G-bat is easier to install with it's threaded terminals, while the Westco has the older style terminals that take a nut on the back side.

Really can't go wrong with either.

Thanks DrBob. I looked at the G-Man stuff but they were pretty pricey. Money is tight right now so I ended up going with the Scorpion battery. I talked to a guy on another forum who said his has been great in the year + that he's own it. Time will tell but thanks for the reply. I'll keep the Westco in mind incase the Scorpion turns out to be a dud.

You can probably figure on replacing it every 3rd year.

If you don't mind doing that, you may still be money ahead instead of getting one for $80 that lasts maybe 7-8 years.

If you had a S-50....or another bike like mine where you can't even SEE the battery.....you might feel differently about replacing the battery so often !!
