Does anyone have a list of Cricket tri-band compatible phones compiled? In St. Louis you have to have a triband 800/1700/1900mhz phone, im looking for a list of phones that could be flashed to cricket, any help appreciated. Ken

Thanks for the reply but how does your tutorial change a LG8300x for instance from 850/1900 to 850/1700/1900. Dont you have to start with a triband phone to end up with a triband phone? Ken

The LG VX8300 doesn't have the 1700 band on it. So any flashing done won't add the 1700 band, since it's hardware based, and not software based. I hear that eventually, all phones will have the frequencies software based. I forgot where I read it at, but one manufacturer wants to make the frequencies software based, so that if a new frequency neeRAB to be added, it can be added to an existing phone.

As for phone that currently have the 1700 band are: Samsung Myshot (minus Alltel model, which excludes the 1700 band), Samsung Spex (R210A), UTStarcom CDM-7126, and now the Kyocera Mako S4000. You won't see any Verizon or Sprint phones with 1700 (AWS) due to Verizon not deciding what to use it for (but more than likely will use it for LTE), and Sprint never bid on AWS licenses directly, and is sticking with PCS. Also, Alltel never bid on any AWS licenses, and now with them being bought out, will keep their phone lineup from even having AWS. And for USCC, they're holding off on expansion, and will likely wait until LTE is finalized before they even expand in AWS.

In other worRAB your stuck with the tri band phones Cricket offers because there's no other company besides metro pcs making those phones which by the way are the same models :micro:

Unfortunately, that's true. Verizon is in no hurry to use their AWS licenses for new coverage (or capacity in existing markets). Neither is USCC, as they're holding off on expansion at the moment. It's gonna be a slow process at getting a new lineup of phones with AWS on them. But if you're in an area that is PCS, and almost never travel to an AWS market, then a dual band phone will work just fine.

I'm in an upcoming Cricket market that'll be AWS only, as Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and USCC have all the PCS licenses for the market. T-Mobile bought most of the AWS licenses for my area, with AT&T & Spectrumco 2nd & 3rd. Verizon has just the 20mhz Great Lakes F block, while technically Denali, Cricket has the Great Lakes D block of just 10mhz.
