Need a 4x4 or AWD car?

I live up in lake tahoe,ca and we get lots of snow and want a car thats awd or 4x4, good or ok gas mileage, is safe, and a price where I can find it around $8000 used, I've looked at the subaru, audi, and volvo and think the subarus are alright but up where I live everyone has them and want something different, the audis are sick but expensive, and the volvo cross country is nice and really safe, are there any other cars that are above the year 200 that are good. thanks
 
A car that is very good but still nice looking is the VW passat 4motion. Audis are expensive but if you go VW you can get most of the quality without the high price tag. Hope this helps. Also the gas mileage is very good (27-32) Get from years 2002-2005.

well its not really a car but jeep wranglers are great and get good gas mileage, also the suburu outbacks are good snow cars..but ugly as shit lol
