Necrophagist Fans Get The Fuck In Here

Found this band...that has a striking resemblance to Necrophagist, they are called Obscura and have a new album called "Cosmogenesis." They are signed to Relapse at the moment. Well upon further investigation they have two session members from Necrophagist...

They play Technical Death Metal, that's not wank like most shit out there, pretty melodic too, has acoustic interludes; in other worRAB a good mix of shit.

oh, fuck Obscura vocals sound very similar to Necrophagist. I think they actually named themselves after the gorguts album (I could be wrong). Gorguts is what got me into technical deathmetal. fuck I remember buying Errosion of Sanity on tape in Jr High (I think around the time it came out).

fuck I wish more of Metal Crew would use this forum, at least post more banRAB like this.

Yeah Gorguts is the shit, I actually can't find a copy of Obscura anywhere bro-seph. Shit has been out of print for a long fucking time. I didn't even know that the drummer had killed himself in 02, that's why they broke up. I have Erosion of Sanity and From Wisdom To Hate. But yeah, the band's name is what got me to check them out, cause my first thought was holy shit...these guys have some balls to name themselves after such a badass Gorguts album, and they didn't disappoint
 
So anyone get the album? I personally like it. Its way more melodic than Necrophagist. I actually hear some Cynic influences on some tracks. The solo's are really well played, not too flashy, but they definitely fit the songs.

Opinions?
 
The group's latest addition, guitarist Christian Muenzner (ex-NECROPHAGIST), came into the ranks early 2008.


maybe that has something to do with it. Im liking it though, fretless bass is a nice touch.
