honestly? the only thing i can even think of here off hand would be a possible 'bood flow velocity' type of situation only because you mention actual 'throbbing"? which is usually more involved with blood flow since our pulse points(the areas where the blood flow is simply closer to the skin with arteries)will simply 'throb' with our actual heatbeat/ but in most cases, we simply do not actually really 'feel it unless something is simply creating a much higher flow velocity within a specific artery?
one thing you can do to simply rule that out is ask your doc for a referral for a doppler ultrasound to be done on that side where you actually feel that throb occur? this can see intothe arteries and would show anything that simply could be a contributor to creating higer flow velocity in there. that really IS about all i can possibly think of right now that i do KNOW can create what you are describing here. getting that at least ruled out with that doppler run on the arteries would help in coming up with an actual Dx. most diagnosises are actually simply made by testing the more 'likely' things, then ruling them in or out and moving on if no answers really show. but ask your doc about trying this one type of test and see what shows or doesn't show for now. then at least you have had that possible ruled out. if i think of anything else here i will let you know, but increased bloodflow velocity in a particular artery or something impinging upon it or actually "in' it that could narrow it which would cause it to simply 'shoot'(like placing your thurab partially over the end of a garden hose makes water simply 'shoot much harder and farther?) instead of naturally flowing just sounRAB like what would really kind of 'fit' with throbbing and no real pain ya know? please let me know what you find out,K? good luck with this.
