My husband woke up 2 weeks ago and said he has a stiff neck and could not turn his head. Now his neck at the bottom of his neck in the back is killing him. If he turns his head he gets pain down both shoulder blades. I dont think this is symptoms of pinched nerves. He has no pain in his arms or hands. Any one have any input on this..

hi yvonne, considering this is onlywithin that neck are with no symptoms actually radiaring down either arm(this it still could be a c spine issue that has not yet really progessed) i would at least get him see by your primary dos to see if this just coukd be musle/tesion/stress realated os something a bit more in depth going on. any good primary should be at leat able to tell sonmeting,ot narrow down area just by doing that basic neuro check alog with seeing how his actual neck ROMS are. unfortunetly i do know your ins situation. while ideally, obtaing that MRI would be the best way to go to really 'see' into that c spine area, there is alot that any primary can at least rule in or out with that eval of his symptoms. even doing that very basic x ray, c spine series may show something that is actually out of some level of true alignment. that would be and indicator of a possible problem area that just needs further eval.

unfortunetly you have to kind of start with the bascis and work your way up,ya know? but he really needs that very basic eval from his doc to even begin to try and figure out the possible base of the problem. this just could also be some level of real solid muscle spasm too. trying different types of meds too could possibly narrow down things as well. but do pop on down to that spinal boards hon.it would be most helpful considering. good luck and please keep me posted on him too, lol.
