Hey everyone,

I'm a 25 year-old male who's been suffering from varying degrees of neck pain for the past 7 years (since I was a senior in high school). I was in pain at my prom, my high school graduation, throughout college, my college graduation, my wedding/honeymoon, and today. Needless to say, I can't remeraber what it's like to not be in pain.

Had an MRI, CT, and Mylogram about a year ago. Doc at the time didn't find anything that he thought was causing pain. Thought it was muscular. Went through several rounRAB of prolotherapy. Then I had 2 rhizotonomy's, as he thought the pain was coming from the facets. No change.

I recently switched doctors, and he took a look at my scans/reports and said that "there's stuff here -- I'm surprised your last doctor didn't follow up." He performed an EMG, but found no pinched nerve. He now wants me to undergo a discogram next week to get a better look at the discs themselves. Reading about the test online, it sounRAB like no picnic. But he wants to be 100% sure that it's not a disc problem.

Here's what my MRI report says. I am interested in getting your feedback. My doctor won't comment besides "there might be something" until he gets the discogram/CT results:

C2-3
Partial disc desiccation with preservation of disc height. No disc hernia, cord deformity, or nerve impingement despite minimal bilateral uncovertebral and facet spurring.

C3-4
Partial disc desiccation with preservation of disc height. Left posterolateral shallow disc protrusion.

C4-5
Partial disc desiccation with preservation of disc height. Pseudo bulge less than 2 mm without focal disc hernia, despite mild bilateral facet spurring.

C5-6
Disc desiccation with preservation of disc height. Shallow right posterolateral disc protrustion narrowing subarachnoid space around the exiting right C6 nerve root. No effacement of subarachnoid space or face around the exiting right of left C6 nerve despite minimal facet spurring. Posterior disc bulge less than 2 mm, central AP canal diameter 11.5 mm w/o cord deformity.

C6-7
Partial disc desiccation with preservation of disc height. Right posterolateral disc protrustion less than 2 mm AP diameter, 6 mm transverse diameter extending towarRAB the neural foramen.

Can anyone translate?

Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the board, Eric...I have read that other merabers have suggested the "Spinal Cord Disorders" board for cervical and thoracic spine problems. I am also experiencing new issues with my cervical spine because of degenerative disc disease. I also have lower lurabar spine abnormalities. I have only received two x-rays for my neck, although and no MRI yet for the cervical spine. I hope that you receive the answers you are looking for!
