...crosswalk signal, why? Try watching an anime that isn't about the far past or future (actually a few futuristic animes include them too) and see if you don't find a crosswalk scene. If it were live-action shows I could accept it as coincidence, but people actually have to draw these scenes. It must be on purpose. Is it some reference that only people in anime production know about, sort of like the Wilhelm scream amongst sound effects gurus?
