Hi everyone. Im 22 m Australia here. Ill be 23 in 2 weeks and my acne just wont leave me alone its so painful. Its ruined my confidence since i was 15 until this very day. My acne has never been considered severe besides a few horriblly large papules i had this year, therefore I dont qualify for accutane/roaccutane.
Here what Im currenlly doing

minomycin antobiotic - 4 tablets a day
Differin gel at night
drink 3 litres of water
wash twice a day with cetaphil cleanser.

I have only recently started doing all of this say the last 2 weeks. I hardly drank water before this (a little bit only), didnt use differin gel and was using phisohex cleanser instead of cetaphil which really irritated my skin. Does this sound like a good skin regime? anything else I should be doing or not doing in your opinion? Im just so frustrated. I had frienRAB with way worse acne than me back in the day but they have all cleared up not me!

Finally i hear all this talk about this proactiv solution. Does anyone know if it is really as good as they claim it is? If it is ill be in, just alot of cash though.

Any help would be most appreciated

I'm not familiar with minomycin.

The best antibiotic i'v tried for acne is Doxycycline.
Get the Doxycycline thats 100MG per capsule. Take one a day.
It will clear you.

Proactiv is overated.
Its main ingredient is benzoyl peroxide which seems to always break me out.

Differin is a pretty good topical but you have to use it every night. I use Klaron too in the morning for a topical. I used to be on Doxycycline too and I really liked it. But with any new skin regime you are going to have an initial breakout. You just have to work through it. I also take Yasmin for birth control it has helped my skin some too.

I am around the same age. Proactive cleared me up, but am in my 4th month of use, and it seems to have stopped working for some reason.
Good Luck

i dont have much as far as help goes. But I am 23 almost 24 and I still suffer from acne. Mostly on a chin and I have lots of it on my upper back/shoulder blades...I've tried many things and it just doesnt seem to go....I know when I used to go tanning (tanning beRAB) it would really clear up both, but we all know what they say about tanning beRAB.

Klaron was also something my doctor let me try he gave me several small sample bottles, but since I dont have insurance to cover it it would have been over 100 for a 1oz bottle....but I really liked klaron.

Hey guys thanks so much for the replies. I went to the doc and asked about Doxycycline which i started taking today (thanks barry). I was previously on minocycline which is marketed as minomycin here in Aus which is probably why you didnt know what it was. I didnt get very good results from it so we'll see how doxy goes. I also got a different topical to use istead of Differin called Stieva-A. Anyone had an experience with this?
