GREENSBORO — Some buildings on the N.C. A&T campus have been evacuated and students have been told to go to their rooms and look their doors and windows as campus and Greensboro Police investigate a report of a possible armed man on campus.
There have been no reports of injuries or gunshots associated with the report.
Greensboro Police spokeswoman Susan Danielsen has confirmed that police are searching for a black male armed with a rifle.
Danielsen said the General Classroom Building, called GCB by students, and buildings nearby have been evacuated. Danielsen said Greensboro police are assisting in the building evacuation and search for the man, who campus police were alerted to in a phone call. Continue Reading
Freshman Charles Chisley was attending class in the GCB when he got word from a fellow student at about 9:30. Shortly before 10 a.m. this Aggie Alert text message to students and some staff: Black male carrying a rifle seen on campus. University is on lockdown. Stay in. Lock doors and windows.
“There’s no need to get all nervous,” Chisley, 19, said as he was headed to Pride dormitory.
Scanner traffic describes the man police are searching for as a black male wearing a blue cap, dark jacket and blue jeans. He is reported to be carrying a long gun.
GREENSBORO — Just before 10 a.m. an Aggie Alert text message was sent to N.C. A&T students and staff. The message reads: Black male carrying a rifle seen on campus. University is on lockdown. Stay in. Lock doors and windows.
No injuries have been reported. No gunshots have been reported.
