Navy vs. Air Force: Work environments, general questions?

My daughter wants to join one or the other next year when she graduates.

She wants to know what kinds of environments she'd be serving in. What I mean is, Army and Marines don't appeal to her, because the whole living in beehuts in the desert scenario really turns her off (hey, to each their own; personally I'm looking forward to it, LOL). She's willing to work hard and live in tough conditions at times, but her preference is to work in a more established environment, like a base or ship, and I can respect that.

She knows that in the Navy she'd be stationed on a ship part of the time. The rest of the time, would she primarily be inside an established Naval base, or would she be out "in the field" the way the Army and Marines sometimes are?

As for Air Force, would her time mostly be spent inside an AF base? She's not looking at an aviation occupation, if that matters.

If it helps, she's a visual artist, wanting to serve for a few years to get some life experience and qualify for college assistance so she can attend an expensive art college that's accepted her. She's mostly interested in the more artistic jobs, such as graphic design, photography and whatnot, but is also open to many of the jobs in computers, technology, and so on.

Thank you for any little pieces of insight you can offer, and please just don't post if you're going to complain that she wants the college money. That's one of the selling points the recruiters use, and there's no reason for her not to want to access those benefits so long as she's willing and able to work her hardest to give back to the military in return. Not everyone is GI Joe, and I think she's making a responsible and well-informed decision.

AIR FORCE. Thats what I am going to do and I am in Civil Air Patrol. The AF gives you much more vacation break while at base. And there are a lot of jobs in the AF. I do believe there is photographer. Also we have the highest technological AF in the world garunteed for 40 years. :D

Navy, cuzz actually only 6% of people who join ever set foot on a battleship or something to that effect. Also the navy has 8 week bootcamp while airforce has 12. I'd go with the navy if she like electronics, or using her brain.
