OK.. I went there for boot camp also. In the first week they will let him call home one time for maybe 1 minute. After the first week they will give some, not much time though for him to write home. He made the same mistake I did going to boot camp there in winter. Really they are not going to give him more than one hour every Sunday to write home in boot camp.
A school will offer a lot more freedom and time for him to write and call. In A school usually you are on cleanup duty 6am to 4 pm and have maybe one watch a week. Then when the class starts it is just normal school during the day with some watches to stand and some weekends off.
