This team ORIGINALLY started in 1995. It had major backing and a big name star. The car was competitive right off the bat...but however success never came. The team had several other accomplishments however one being giving Matt Kenseth his break that got him noticed.
The team was bought out after the new milleninum and the mfg was changed. When deciding on the new car # the then current driver asked one of his former teams for a favor. The former exchanged their car # for his endorsement of THEIR sponsor in order to keep them on the car. The team in question expanded to two cars. They went almost another season Without any wins however the two cars late in the season were fighting for the win...one way or another this team was finally going to score it's first win! And it did with the primary initial car.
The driver ended a long winless streak and so did the mfg.
The team went on to get some more wins thru the years and expanded to become an even larger team. But in the past few years
the team has fallen on hard teams...but wins still come every now and then. They're afraid 2009 may be a blue season...with the economy the way it is....sponsorship may be hard to find for ALL of it's current teams. But a "blue" season may not be all that bad!
Can you name the original name of the team in 1995?
Can you name the new owner in late 2000?
Can you name the drivers who were fighting for the first win?
Can you name any sponsors or car #s?
Can you name all the names this team has had?
Why do they feel this is going to be a blue year???
What/who was the team that traded car #s?
Good luck and have fun with it. Best answer goes to the most
correct answers to the questions above.

Matt's first ride was with Bill Elliott's team. He drove the 94 car. The team sold to Ray Evernham in 2000; it was a Ford and changed to the first Dodge team. Elliott Racing fielded cars for Bill Elliott, Kenseth, and a ride for Dennis Setzer. The car was originally sponsored by McDonald's. I can't think about anything more but I do remember the Thunderbat!

Thinking of more on Evernham M.S.- Drivers: Casey Atwood, Elliott (sponsor Dodge), Mayfield, a win at Homestead, and Elliott almost winning another at the end of the year in Florida. Didn't he think he was on the last lap when the white flag fell? I can't remember...
