hey
I'm doing a film studies essay, and just want a second opinion...
Which would be the best and easiest to write a 2000 word essay on on Narrative and Genre out of: i, Robot The Descent Phonebooth Sin City Transformers and Oceans Eleven? And also why?

I'd go for 'Phone Booth' - it's got a great psychological angle and the action is virtually all in the same location with just a small number of characters to focus on.

I'd go for The Descent. The genre is horror, and there's a lot that can be said about female protagonists in horror movies. At least if you don't have to be original - much of it has already been said, of course, although maybe not about this film. You can also talk about isolation, claustrophobia etc. It's quite a transparent film. It's easy to see how it works.

I'm not totally sure what "narrative" means to arts graRAB types so I can't help you there.

Which would be the "best" and "easiest" - way to aim for the stars on that one  I suppose, seeing that it's Easter, I'll let you off - but just this once ;) :D

They are all as easy/difficult as each other. Two thousand worRAB is two thousand worRAB; the choice of film will only dictate the focus of those worRAB (you could easily squeeze ten times that level out of any of the films mentioned)

Focus on the theory of narrative and genre and use examples from the film you enjoy the most to back up what you're saying: A little Roland Barthes, a smattering of Vladimir Propp, half an ounce of Claude Levi-Strauss - blend together - and you're laughing.
