Several years ago I watched a documentary on the Science Channel or Discovery Channel that dealt with man's mental evolution. How man became cognitive and developed a sense of 'spirit'/ developed the idea of an afterlife. I cannot remember the name of the special but I can remember specific scenes. One involved a group of advanced homonids (pre homo sapiens) hunting, a member being knocked unconscious, then lightning killing an antelope and the woman waking up, appearing to her clan that the deer's death caused her revival, hence the first concept of religion emerges. I also remember the ending scene with a shaman of some sort in a cave by the sea in Europe. If anyone knows what documentary this is please tell me. It will help me as an aspiring anthropology major.
