My dad told me a story about how the south used human urine to make manufacture one of the key components in black powder. He said that what they did is collected the urine from chamber pots in each town, and because it was mostly women in each town, the compound extracted from the urine was mostly from human females. Now, the question is, my dad told me a union soldier caught wind of this and wrote a poem about how tragic it is to be killed by a bullet that smells like women, or something to that effect, but it was related to how the south made black powder from females pee for sure. My question is, Can anyone tell me what poem that might be, or who wrote it?! And also is my pre-given information correct, and while my dad did tell me, I forgot just what it was they made from all that urine, Something like sodium phosphate, I think that was it. I know it was sodium something cause sodium is a key component in black powder.
