Name a film which has changed your mind about the actor

Yep, i'd go with you on that. A great film. And an amazing achievement considering the shape he was in The machinist, and the amount he bulked up for in Batman which only started shooting 4 weeks after it.

The first film I saw Jake Gyllenhaal in was 'The Day After Tomorrow' I wasn't impressed and thought he was quite odd looking - then I saw him in Brokeback Mountain and fell in love - I've caught up on his other films since. Go Jakey!

Johnny Depp in Once Upon A Time In Mexico. I'd seen him in a few other films before that but had never quite 'got' the buzz surrounding him. Then I saw him in that and basically fell in love. The movie itself is not so great but he just steals every scene he's in and his performance is a great mixture of genuine cool and funny.

Bruce Willis in Die Hard.

Loved Moonlighting. I'm gonna say that again... Looooooved Moonlighting!
But after that his first movies were Blind Date and Sunset!:o Those who fought his film career were coming to a swift end were not far wrong.
Then came Die Hard.

Jumper - Rachel Bilson.

The movie wasn't anything special. But Rachel just didn't seem like a waste of space in it. She is better sticking to movies and leaving TV shows behind.

I reckon he's descended from Moomins although his sister is quite hot in a strange sort of way.

Back on topic never rated Sam Elliott much until Road House.

Now he can even enliven total dross like Ghost Rider.

I have to agree about Leonardo di Caprio. In the few films I've seen him in I didn't think much of him, but I recently saw What's Eating Gilbert Grape and I thought he was very good in that.

Val Kilmer in De Ja Vu. He played it just right, and was very likeable. He'd put on a fair bit of weight but i preferred the understated Kilmer.

maybe OT but after watching CSI Miami my mind was changed about the brilliant David Caruso. I hate him playing Horatio, just far too cool for school in that. To see him in great roles such as The King Of New York and then compare it to wooden top Horatio...I dunno.... As a matter of fact has Horatio ever broken his cool? Has he ever spoke other than super smooth?

Same here. I thought he was okay in Sin City, but I didn't understand why he was getting leading roles. He was brilliant in this, though.

re Jake Gyllenhaal
I've seen him described as Fred Flinstone and sometimes he looks a bit like Tony Hancock - but I think he's got more hanRABome as he's got older - he's lovely and a good actor.

Tom Cruise - oddly

I disliked him ever since I saw "Risky Business"

Then I saw "Collateral" and he was really good in that!

(he was okay in "Magnolia" too, but nothing spectacular...)
