Nail magnet????

Anyone else feel like these stock Pirelli's have a gravitational pull on road debris (mostly nails). I've got less than 1000 miles on my 1098 and have already had to replace my rear tire twice because of nails. I had a YZF-600R for 6 years and never picked up a single nail, while living in the country where I'd figure road debris would be more likely. I've had to replace this freakin Pirelli Dragon Supercorsa (nearly $300) twice because I don't really have enough miles on my front to replace the whole set with something cheaper. Anyone else noticed these tires pickin up crap real easy? Does it have anything to do with how soft they are? This is really eatin into my wallet and I'm tired of it

The Pirelli's are pretty soft, sticky tires I have to say, I think those two attributes running over a piece of metal would be somewhat predictable.

Sooo, when the dealer offered me tire & rim insurance for 5 years at $399, well you can imagine I went for it.

I'll have to ask my dealer about that. I have road hazzard insurance on my car tires that is well worth the cost, but haven't been offered that at the Ducati shop.
$600 bucks in 2 months...I know Ducati's are expensive but this is a little ridiculous

A sheet metal screw took out my first Pirelli Dragon Supercorsa rear on my 1098s at 73 miles. Another screw destroyed the replacement tire at 2,603 miles. I lost the use of the bike on the first screw for 15 days because this was an early bike and DNA had no replacement tires. The dealer ended up taking a tire off of a demo bike for me to use.

the pilots on my CBR are nail magnets for real. In fact, I pulled a wingnut from the tread today. If it would have been sharp, that would be about 200 miles on that tire and ready for a new one.
