N91 Messaging Problem

Every few months I'll be sending a text message on my N91, then it will freeze and crash, so i'll have to reboot it. When i restart it all my inbox / drafts / sent messages are deleted. However, when i scan the phone's hard drive, it claims I have 1,600kb worth of text messages, yet I go to the inbox and theres none there.

I tried hooking the phone up to my laptop but I still can not access the messages if they are at all there, and I also went to the Nokia website and downloaded some software that speeds up sending messages, now I cant send any messages at all at times. I tried searchin the forum but couldn't find any answers.

Has anyone got any idea's as to what I can do? Or any suggestions at all if you've heard of the same thing?

Cheers in advance

I also had problems on my N91 with mesaging but after installing SMS Accelerator everything works fine.

Have you tried to install Y-browser and see if you could resolve the problem ?

Sorry, i'm new to all this, whats Y Browser? Do you have a link?

If I can, i'm gonna try and uninstall this SMS accelertor coz i cant send any messages at all now. The error message i get is that "the memory is full" when its clearly not.

Y-browser? It's a program for Symbian s60 3rd ed that allows you to acces and manipulate almost all files and folders on your phone/HDD (some sort of file explorer). Hmmm, I can't remember but I think I found a link to it at allaboutsymbian.com, you should try that one. And the support address for Y-B is : [email protected].

And uninstalling the SMS accellerator would hardly resolve the problem IMO

Anyway, good luck my friend!

Though I don't own an N91, I would do as instructed, install Y browser, and use it to access the specific folder called Mail Folders that Y Browser makes available on the main screen. From there, you should be able to delete the messages that aren't truly being deleted from the phone memory.

Thanks a lot for the help guys, you were right i uninstalled the sms accelerator and nothing happened, so i'll go and search for Y-browser and do as you say, i'll keep ya posted.

No there isn't a specific Mail folder in Y-browser, you should look and explore "C"/"Z"(phone) or "E" disc (it's your HDD). Maybe under "Attachments" or some other folder you'll find something that unnecessarily burdens the memory and delete it. Be carefull when exploring C/Z discs though, they contain some important files that enable your phone to operate properly. Sorry but I am not sure if this could resolve your messaging problem and you might wanna consult the nearest Nokia repair center. Some problems are regrettably beyond us ordinery users

Thanks for ur help man,

I looked on all the drives but cant find any .sms files at all and like you said I dont wanna delete anything incase it's important. My phone is still under warranty so i'll have to send it off.

Before I do though, Does anyone know anything about formating the hard drive? I know that the OS is on the E drive so I dont know if doing so will wipe that or not, but I have a feeling it could work if it's easy to do?

Any advice would be great
