N900(w/ EDGE) vs N97(w/ 3G)

So my provider is currently AT&T, and that isn't change for the near future.


That said, I'm looking into buying a new device. Both the N900 and N97 come up as something I'd like. That said, the 'nice' device doesn't have 3G on my network, how much of a deal breaker do you believe this to be? My home and school both have Wi-Fi, so most places I'll be fine, and I do have a data plan with EDGE services when I need it. The N97 was reported to have some issue, but 2.0v seemed to fix some big stuff, is that true?


Any advice would be great

i used to think that 3G wasn't a big deal, so i sold my bold to get the 8900. I was wrong. I think 3G is worth it just to even get rid of GSM buzz.

Get the 3G. Allows you to talk and data at the same time.

Lets say for example, you're using the N900 to tether on EDGE. You get a call while downloading, the download stops. On the N97 with 3G, you get a call, and the download remains uninterrupted.
