N80 with BMW Bluetooth

I posted this in the main Nokia forum but received no responsed. So sorry for Posting this in this thread, I really need to rectify this situation fast, or I will have to sell this phone and get another phone.

My N80 pairs but doesn't connect with the bluetooth system in my BMW - It is a '07 5-Series.

I drive a fair bit and have gotten used to my V3i automatically connecting and synching my address book when I turn on the car.

Has anybody had any luck connecting their N80. I don't even care about the address book, I just want to use the bluetooth system to make and receive calls and talk while driving.

Would a firmware upgrade or any third party software help me?

Thank you.

What exactly does that do?

I am at work and can't really try it out, I will when I get home, I was just curious what that feature enables...

I have an Acura MDX with HFL Bluetooth built in.
Two things I would try in the Bimmer are, try and do a complete system reset on your BT in the car. Clean out old phones and settings. There should be a voice command for that, there is in the Acura. If that doesn't work, and it should or you can't find out how to do it, delete the pairings in the phone and car and this time pair the phone with a PIN code that you have never used before. Sometimes if you use a PIN from a different phone that you had before on a new phone the system doesn't like it.
All these steps work for me in the Acura, not sure about the BMW, but good luck.

i'm having trouble connecting my n73 with bmw as well! i tried turning on the remote sim mode and it still doesnt connect, i can pair with the car, but it wont connect. anyone else experience this? thanks!

I test drove an 06 range rover sport and it paired with my 8801 instantly and retained the connection perfectly. I think Ranger Rover and bimmers use the same BT system. I know the nav interfaces are different. I'll try and pair up my N73(when i get it) with a co-workers X5 next week and let you know how I did it. I've paired my E61 easily with my dads Range Rover so I dont think it should be too much of an issue.

I have an 06 BMW 3 Coupe my N80 paired with the car and worked ok making and receiving calls. I was able to get the address book working by manually sending selected contacts to the car. The car address book doesn?t automatically update but since I only call limited numbers from the car it doesn?t really matter

I've heard that Nokia has a lot of bluetooth problems especially on N80. And that's bummer. Let's hope that Nokia will sort out their problems.

I had troubles getting the N80's BT to work on my '06 M6 as well.

My Cingular 8125 and N70 paired fine but I don't know what's up.

I tried clearing out the other two phones with no luck.

Keep us updated.

still no luck i got the 8801 to work does any one knwo if n90 or another n series phone works? i think this is because there is no bluetooth headset profile in the phone. on all my other phones it recognized my car as a handsfree nokia n80 shows it as a speaker. contacting bmw service tom. maybe they have a BT update all i know is a 600 dollar phone and a 70k dollar car dont egt along guess i need a vertu

hey i have the same issue my e61 will not pair with my new bmw navigation system (MK IV nav sw version 28). it's a shame. please share if you find a solution i'll do the same.

last time I tested my N90 to pair with my friend's bmw 5series. It works fine and it paired with no problems. He did all the setup coz he doesn't want me to touch the settings of his car(*******!). My dad just got his S550, I'll check it out this weekend if it has a Bluetooth equipped and test it with my phone.

I spoke with bmw since my car is 06 1/2 they said it has the most recent version of BT. I think its 2.0 the nokia n80 has version 1.2 and does in fact have the headet and handsfree profile. I was at nokia lounge in NYc yesterday and a higer level tech came in. He mentioned to me that its the BMw not having 2.0 that causes the communication problems. BMW blamed nokia. I wound up returning the phone because they could not tell me if i had the most recent firmware. Also grabbed a sales guys n73 and it did not work with the car. Did not have n93 to try but if as earlier stated n70 worked and n90 worked not sure if the .3 version will work. either way i think its a joke because what person driving around in a 70k car would want to use a cell phone thats approved by bmw. ohhhhhhhhh the razor woooooowwwwww. Please . these companies should get their acts together. Also us carriers shoudl allow FOTA and nokia should let customers know a little more about firmware rather than you need to go toa service center or send your phone in. PIKO did you make calls and check the address book out with your friends n93 cause I was told that they seriously doubt any N series will work with BMW bt.
