N80.... right for me?

Hi guys,

I'm looking into getting my first smart phone soon. Especially after my friend got me into the N95... But of course, as a college student, a n95 is nearly impossible to buy. I mean look at it! It has everything I wanted... plus more. What I'm really looking for is WiFi internet (for browsing while on campus) and a decent camera that pass as a standalone camera. So I began looking for a phone which had the features I desired, I came across the n80. It seems to have a fairly nice camera... and for free, while violating the warranty, I can upgrade to the internet edition (Does the non-IE edition still have internet access?) The phone seems well suited, and affordable. Now I understand the phones major flaw is it's battery life, but I will be buying an extra battery (Have larger capacity batteries come available?)

So what do you guys think, is the n80 for me or do you have any other suggestions?

I think the N80 will be great, expecially if you do get the extra battery.
The N8IE is the same as the N80 but with extra internet functionality and features.
Knowing that the battery drains fast with WIFI on I would even think about 3 batteries.

Have you thought about the N93 or N93i? The have the extra battery capacity and could double as a gaming device with TV-out.

N80 is a great phone - but it operates on GSM networks, notably Cingular and T-Mobile, but also some regional carriers. Verizon has a different network technology. Look for a CDMA phone.

"Wow very pungent.........it stings the nostrils........in a good way."

OT: That film is in my top five favorite comedies of all time right along with Mystery Men.

I'd be lying if I told you I didn't jump ship from Sprint to T-Mobile (and migrate my entire family's plan) just to get a sweet GSM Nokia smartphone.

That said, T-Mobile has been a better service in every way than Sprint was (or Verizon was 3 years ago when we had that), so I'm pretty thrilled about the switch.

EDIT: Although if you were serious about jumping ship to a GSM network, SMS rate hikes might let you do the deed for free. That's how I got off Sprint a few months before my contract expired.

Yeah, I guess I'll just hold out till my contract runs out and switch services... on the bright side, maybe the n95 will be affordable by then!

Thanks guys!
