N8 hd video format

i downloaded the movie 300hd in mkv format which resulted in 4.17gb. when i tried to transfer it to my n8, it said that it was too big. so i was wondering if someone could suggest a different hd format that is better suited for the n8, or what size the mkv has to be in order for th n8 to play it, or even a trim tool to make it an optimal size. thanks

That's what I normally (used to) use to convert/transcode the file to be able to play on the PS3.
It will also split the file in half however you choose.
 
i have that app but i cant seem to be able to just split the mkv in 2, it always converts it to another format and it never works on the phone
