Hi everyone,

I tried to search the forum for the answer but unfortunately, I can't find it so I hope anyone could help me, thanks!

I am using N73 which is bought from Asia and I am using Cingular when I back to San Francisco. Recently, I've downloaded msn messenger and installed to my N73, however, I couldn't get it connects to the internet. The problem is I couldn't even online with my phone. Cingular MMS and MediaNet are already set automatically on my phone once I put in the sim, but I have no success to connect.

Any idea on how to set up or missing some settings?
Many thanks!

Try 2 be more descriptive in ur posts to help us out more.....

Did u just BUY the phone..?? If u did just BUY it, then either ur settings are wrong inn the phone or cingular has blocked data transfer from ur service plan
OR
If u have had this phone for a while now, did the internet work b4 the msn download..??

Thanks for your post.

Like I said on my first post, I bought it from Asia, and it can't even connects to the internet at all. But everything is fine now. Thanks for v1ralIV

I was hoping that you could help clarify some things for me. I know that current unlocked phones wont work on T Mobile becuase for one T Mobile doesnt have 3g up and running yet and when they do they will be using 2100 and 1700. But Cingular uses (or I believe) 850 and 1900 for their 3g or does it have to do more with UMTS and/or HSDP? I am not knowledgable about those two terms so forgive me. I ask becuase I want to get the Nokia N73 and it is listed as using UMTS/GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900. This would not work on cingular?

Another question: 3g as more to do with using voice and data at the same time correct? So to get any of these phones now, they would still work as a phone (sending text, calling, etc) or am I totally wrong?

Any unlocked gsm phone WILL work with T-mobile as well as Cingular.. Dont know who told u otherwise..
T-mobile does NOT have 3G yet, that is correct. And when they do, only they will know what bands the 3G will run on..

Cingular uses both 850 and 1900 for their 3G service as i believe its on UMTS.

As long as the phone is NOT locked, yet it will work. As far as the UMTS (3G) is concerned for that phone, im not sure if thats UMTS on all 4 bands or just the 850...

3G is just for high speed downloads, video streaming, and internet surfing. Cellular calls, text mess are different

Just about every answer you have given him is wrong.

The bands are correct but they are for UMTS and HSDPA.

The 4 bands are GSM frequencies only. The N73 will not work on Cingular's 3G Network.

Cingular's 3G is for both voice and data. However the phone would work because of the GSM bands.
